Outside of the written work I produce for clients, I also write fiction and narrative nonfiction. In 2021, I was shortlisted for the Nan Shepherd Prize for underrepresented voices in nature writing, and I’ve previously had shorter pieces published in Summer: An Anthology for the Changing Seasons (edited by Melissa Harrison in support of The Wildlife Trusts) and in the Bath Short Story Award 2016 anthology. In 2022, I spoke on a panel about diversity in nature writing as part of the Edinburgh Book Fringe, and in 2023 I chaired an event on nature writing with Lighthouse Books in Edinburgh.

Although I have less time for it than I would like these days, I also enjoy working in pencils and oils. I’ve been painting portraits on commission since 2006, and more recently exhibited some landscape paintings with the Essex Wildlife Trust.
